Autumn Activities: Leaf Art For Rainy Days

Leaf Art for kids

Are you enjoying a typical November in England? We certainly are. Here at Their Nibs, umbrellas are by the front door, waterproofs are on standby, and we're spending more time than ever finding cosy ways to enjoy days indoors.
Leaf ArtWhen the weather keeps little ones inside, it can be a challenge to keep them entertained. That's why we love simple activities inspired by nature, especially ones that don't require lots of planning or expensive materials.

Leaf art is one of our favourite rainy-day activities. It's creative, calming, and a lovely way to encourage children to use their imagination. Better still, it's the sort of craft many of us remember from our own childhoods.
All you need is:
  • Paper or card
  • Colourful autumn leaves
  • Glue
  • Pencils or felt-tip pens
  • Paint (optional)
Once you've collected your leaves, the fun begins. Different shapes, colours and sizes can be arranged to create animals, characters, faces or even whole scenes. With a few pencil lines and splashes of colour, simple leaves can become wonderfully quirky creatures full of personality.

It's the perfect activity for a slow afternoon spent at home, especially when everyone is still happily padding around in their favourite pyjamas.

We've included some lovely examples here to inspire you, but if you'd like even more ideas, Pinterest is full of wonderful leaf art creations to try.

Happy rainy November days.

Love,
Sia
