A Night at the Pictures, the Their Nibs Way: Inside Our First Ever Cinema Slumber Party
If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you mix heavenly pyjamas, a festive film, and a room full of lovely humans who appreciate a good cosy moment… well, wonder no more. On 13 November, we hosted our very first Their Nibs Cinema Slumber Party at the Electric Cinema in White City and it was every bit as heart-warming, whimsical and joyfully Christmassy as you might imagine.
Think: twinkly lights, soft fabrics, the sound of clinking glasses, and an audience collectively mouthing the words “I’m also just a girl…” before the film had even begun.
This was a celebration of everything we hold dear; comfort, connection, a bit of magic, and, of course, excellent pyjamas.
A Cosy Night Out (Without Leaving Your Comfort Zone)
Guests arrived to reception drinks in the beautiful Electric Cinema lobby, chatting away in a sea of prints, stripes and soft fabrics. Some came in their favourite Their Nibs pyjamas already, brave, iconic choices, while others saved their set for the moment they reached their plush red armchair.
There was an immediate sense of togetherness, the kind you only get when everyone in the room is genuinely excited to be wrapped in something soft while watching a Christmas film.
Because truly, what is a night out in November without Christmas pyjamas?
Setting the Scene: A Speech, A Trailer, and A Whole Lot of Love
Before the film began, our founder Fiona took to the stage to welcome everyone. She spoke beautifully about the heart of our brand, print stories hand-drawn with care, small-business charm, and a community of customers who feel like friends.
Then came a little surprise: a bespoke cinema trailer we created especially for the evening. It was playful, warm, and filled with the very spirit of Their Nibs.
The Film: A Festive Classic
We settled in for The Holiday, the ultimate comfort-watch. A Christmas staple. An annual must. A film that pairs unusually well with popcorn served in branded pink-and-blue boxes, which we handed out as though we were born to run a concession stand.
Gifts, Goodies and a Touch of Whimsy
Every guest received a pair of their favourite Their Nibs pyjamas, wrapped with a hand-written note from Fiona. It was one of those small-but-special moments - personalised, thoughtful, and very much in the spirit of who we are.
We also hosted a Christmas quiz (naturally). Competitive spirits were high. Some people absolutely stormed it. Others discovered they know far fewer Christmas film facts than they thought.
Why We Created the Cinema Slumber Party
In a world that often feels fast, noisy and slightly relentless, we wanted to create a moment of pause. A night of joy that reminded people what comfort feels like. A celebration of our prints, our community, and the cosy magic of Christmas.
And judging by the laughter, the gentle sighs during that cottage scene, and the queue of people taking photos of their popcorn boxes, we think it worked.
