Love Language 101: A Valentine’s Day Guide to Showing Love Your Way

Valentine’s Day can feel like it comes with a rulebook. Roses mean romance. Chocolates mean affection. Dinner reservations mean you’re doing it “properly”. But real love rarely sticks to one script - and that’s exactly what Love Language 101 is all about.

Their Nibs Goddess Love Pyjamas

This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating the many ways love shows up in everyday life. Not just the grand gestures, but the small, meaningful moments that quietly say “you matter”. Because love isn’t one-size-fits-all — and it definitely doesn’t have to look the same for everyone.

What Is Love Language 101?
Love Language 101 is our Valentine’s campaign that explores the different ways people give and receive love. Some of us are all about words. Some show love through time, thoughtfulness, laughter or loyalty. Some people say it best with a handwritten note, others with a cup of tea made exactly the right way.

At Their Nibs, we see nightwear as part of that language. It’s what you put on at the end of the day. What you relax in. What you share quiet moments in. It’s comfort, care and thoughtfulness all wrapped up in cotton, prints and familiar favourites. Love Language 101 is an invitation to recognise those gestures and maybe borrow a little inspiration along the way.

Love Language 101: A Valentine’s Day Guide to Showing Love Your Way

Love Languages, the Their Nibs Way. Rather than sticking rigidly to labels, we’re looking at love languages through a softer, more everyday lens with moments that feel recognisable, warm and real. Words of affirmation might be a note left on the bedside, a text sent for no reason, or simply telling someone they look lovely in their pyjamas (always a good idea).

Quality time could be an early night, a slow morning, or staying in bed far longer than planned. Pyjamas on, phones down, nowhere else to be. Acts of service might be bringing someone a cup of tea, letting them have the lie-in, or ordering their favourite nightwear because you know they’ll love it.

Gifts don’t have to be extravagant. Sometimes they’re thoughtful, practical, and chosen with care - something that gets worn again and again, becoming part of someone’s routine. And then there’s shared humour and connection - the in-jokes, the references, the things that only make sense to you. (If you believe lobsters mate for life, you’re very much among friends here.)

Romance, Friendship and Everything in Between
One of the most important parts of Love Language 101 is recognising that Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romantic love. It’s about friendships that feel like home, family bonds that show up quietly, and self-love that deserves just as much attention.

That’s why this campaign is designed to be inclusive and open. Whether you’re celebrating with a partner, your best friend, your children, or simply yourself, there’s room for all kinds of love here.
Because showing up for someone doesn’t always mean hearts and roses. Sometimes it means comfort, familiarity and being there - exactly as you are.

Pyjamas as a Love Language
We might be biased, but we genuinely believe pyjamas can be a love language of their own. They’re what you wear when the day is done. When you’re at your most yourself. When you’re relaxed, unguarded and comfortable. Choosing a pair of pyjamas for someone, or for yourself, says: I want you to feel good. I want you to be comfortable. I’ve thought about this.
That feels pretty romantic to us.

Forward it to someone as a hint. Use it as an excuse for an early night. Or simply let it remind you that love, in all its forms, is already present in the everyday.
This Valentine’s Day, we’re not asking for perfection. Just comfort, connection, and a little bit of heart.
